Japanese American Cancer Biomarker Survey

This survey is now closed. Findings from the survey will be published soon.

Cancer biomarkers are important pieces of information about your specific cancer. These biomarkers can provide you and your medical team vital insights about which treatments may be more or less effective and whether you may be at risk for severe treatment side effects.

The Global Colon Cancer Association conducted a survey to better understand biomarker testing awareness needs of the Japanese American community.

Among Japanese Americans in the U.S., about 1 in 18 men and 1 in 20 women are expected to develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime. These rates are higher compared to other Asian American groups. Increased risk underscores the importance of regular screening and prevention as well as symptom awareness, so GCCA has created translated educational materials to provide medically accurate information in plain language, developed with and disseminated through trusted Japanese American advocates.
