Cancer biomarkers are important pieces of information about your specific cancer. These biomarkers can provide you and your medical team vital insights about which treatments may be more or less effective and whether you may be at risk for severe treatment side effects.
The Global Colon Cancer Association would like to know about your experience with cancer biomarker testing.
We are particularly interested in hearing from the Japanese American community to better understand the needs of this group. GCCA has undertaken a special initiative in the Japanese American community.
Among Japanese Americans in the U.S., about 1 in 18 men and 1 in 20 women are expected to develop colorectal cancer in their lifetime. These rates are higher compared to other Asian American groups. Increased risk underscores the importance of regular screening and prevention as well as symptom awareness, so GCCA has created translated educational materials to provide medically accurate information in plain language, developed with and disseminated through trusted Japanese American advocates.
Now, GCCA is exploring the cancer biomarker testing needs of this group with this biomarker survey.
